Join ME in Iceland!

After an incredible tour in 2022, I'm beyond excited to return for an even bigger/better trip in July of 2023. This is not your 'run of the mill' photography excursion to Iceland. When I first envisioned taking folks to Iceland, it was exclusively for the purpose of photography. If I learned anything on my first tour, it's that it is selling Iceland far short to focus only on the amazing landscapes and photography destinations. Don't get me wrong... the landscapes (including those AMAZING waterfalls) are a huge and important part of the trip. But my goal is a much more broad experience.

The Waterfalls...

Geology

There are incredible forces at play to create the majestic landscapes. One of my participants for 2022 was Dr. Alice Hoersch. Alice is a geology Ph. D., and her vast expertise in geology added an incredible depth to our explorations. So much so, in fact, I approached her with an invitation to join us again in 2023. She eagerly joined in, so we will have a geologist with us in July of 2023, also! Alice will be providing a pre-trip lecture and question/answer session prior to our departure for Iceland. She highlights so much about the geological history of Iceland, and it enriches and deepens the experience to actually know more about what you are photographing!

Where we are going

Everything you have seen on this page so far is included in the 2023 trip. We will be visiting a wide array of waterfalls throughout the entire island. We'll be completing the entire ring road, plus an excursion up to the Westerfjords (which we did not undertake in 2022). I took each of the photos above on our 2022 trip. Below I'll share some photos from the Westerfjord area, and those will not be my photos, just to be clear. The Westerfjords include the Látrabjarg Cliffs, where approximately 1,000,000 birds hang out for nesting and raising their young. This is one of the premier locations on the planet to photograph nesting puffins and many other sea birds. We'll proceed from there up to Ísafjörður. From there we will cut back down to the ring road in the northwest corner (horse country!), then follow the entire ring road clockwise around the entire island. Some of the locations on the docket:

  • Stykkishólmur village (an incredible harbor/fishing village)
  • Kirkufell
